White Oak Sink is one of those special places where a hike has a magical feel. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park this trail is especially beautiful during the spring ephemeral wildflower season. This locale is comprised of sinkholes formed in the carbonate rocks and it fills with many beautiful wildflowers especially carpets of Blue Creeping Phlox and the very special Shooting Stars. There are several trails that wind through the wildflower filled woods and if you arrive very early when the light is lovely you can wander the trails and almost have the place to yourself.
